The "Pilgrim Fathers" of Plymouth, Massachusetts had beliefs that differed from that of the Church of England, they were considered "Separatists" A more broad description of religion in the colonies would be, the New England colonies (Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire) focused on Puritanism. The Middle Colonies (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey) had Lutherans, Catholics, Quakers, and Jews. Finally, the Southern colonies (Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia) had Baptists and Anglicans.
