While it is believed that Israel has possessed nuclear weapons since 1975, they neither deny nor admit to possessing any. It's widely believed that they are a nuclear power, although they have stated they will not be the ones to introduce nuclear weapons to the Middle East.
Since this is looking for an opinion, there are bound to be several responses:View 1No. While on paper it sounds good to make the Middle East a nuclear free zone, it would not actually deter any of the states seeking nuclear weapons. Additionally, it would lead to Middle Eastern states being far more secretive about their nuclear capabilities.
The Sahara is located in Africa and not in the Middle East. There are no Middle East countries covered by the Sahara.
There are countries in the Middle East that are not Arab, such as Iran, Turkey, and Israel.
East Germany did not develop nuclear weapons primarily due to its political and military alignment with the Soviet Union, which discouraged independent nuclear programs among its satellite states. Additionally, the East German government lacked the necessary resources, technological expertise, and industrial capacity to pursue a nuclear weapons program. The focus was instead on conventional military capabilities within the framework of the Warsaw Pact. Ultimately, East Germany's nuclear ambitions were further curtailed by international treaties and agreements against the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Many countries by oil from the middle east. (70% of all countries) :)

The UN Disarmament Commission (UNDC) aims to rid the world of weapons, and to disarm countries. Its top priorities in disarmament negotiations are Weapons of mass destruction (nuclear weapons, and chemical weapons), conventional weapons which can be deemed as injurious, and the reduction of armed forces. So any issue related to weapons and the reduction of armed forces would be addresed by the UNDC. Example of a previous issue is the Establishment of a nuclear-weapon free zone in the region of the middle east. To get more issues you can log onto www.un.org and go to the disarmament page http://disarmament.un.org/undiscom.htm
