the united states, in dc at the supreme court, they have the largest flying flag in the world
The country with the largest flag regularly hoisted is Nepal. Its flag, which has a unique double-pennon shape and features two triangular shapes, covers an area of approximately 3,000 square feet when displayed. However, the largest national flag ever hoisted is in Saudi Arabia, with a size of around 200 meters by 100 meters, but it is not regularly flown. Therefore, while Nepal has the largest flag in terms of regular hoisting, Saudi Arabia holds the record for the largest single display.
The Australian flag was not hoisted by Captain Cook. There was no country known as Australia then, and at this stage, Cook was a Lieutenant. Cook hoisted the British flag to show he was claiming the eastern half of the continent for the British Empire. He then returned to England.
