The official currency of Togo is the CFA franc, more specifically the West African CFA franc, where CFA stands for Communauté financière d'Afrique or Communauté Financière Africaine (Financial Community of Africa/African Financial Community), an economic cooperation between former French colonies.
The symbol for the franc varies by country. For example, the Swiss franc is represented by "CHF," while the French franc, which is no longer in use since the adoption of the euro, was denoted by "FRF." Other regions that used the franc also had their own symbols, but the primary symbols today are CHF for Switzerland and XPF for the CFP franc used in some Pacific territories.
