Africa is not one country - it is many countries, each with their own flag. There is not a continental flag for Africa but there is a link below to find the flag for every country in Africa. There is an organisation called the African Union, which is like the United Nations or European Union, but in Africa. It has a flag which is mainly green and white, with a little picture of Africa in the centre.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (and therefore England) is already a member of the European Union. It joined what was then called the EEC in 1973. Like all countries in the European Union, it has its own flag. The European Union, is an organisation, not a country. It has a flag, like many organisations does, but that is separate to all of the national flags of the members.

The "union" is also known as the "canton" in flag terms. When looking at the flag, it is the upper left corner of the flag, the position of honor. This is also the "flag's right" corner from the flag's perspective looking at you, the viewer. The term "union" comes from the Second Continental Congress resolution on June 14th 1777 that defined the first flag of the United States of America: "Resolved, That the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation."
