Two Faces West - 1960 Portrait of Bravery 1-21 was released on: USA: 13 March 1961
The obverse of a coin is the front, main, top, or "heads" side of a coin, usually bearing a portrait. The opposite is the reverse, commonly known as "tails".In British coinage the obverse depicts the portrait of the Sovereign. The portraits, are by convention, side-on. The direction the portrait faces changes with each succeeding Sovereign. Current British coins depict the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing to the right, the coins of her father, GeorgeVI, showed his portrait facing to the left.

They are not all presidents, e.g. Franklin, Chase.
There are many president faces on both the paper currency and coins. For instance, Abraham Lincoln is on the penny and the five dollar bill. Other president faces include Roosevelt, Jefferson, Kennedy, Washington and Grant.

Abraham Lincoln faces to the right because the design of the coin was based on a medal that had his image that direction. Also, Jefferson's portrait faces right on the Westward Journey nickels struck in 2005, so Lincoln is not the only president facing that direction. The choice of direction for a portrait is purely artistic. There is no law or political reason for the selection.
A One Pound with "no faces on it" is possibly a Guernsey One Pound coin. These coins are still potentially in circulation so, unless they are part of a Proof or Uncirculated mint set or are individual Proof or Uncirculated coins and in absolute mint condition, they are worth One Pound in Guernsey. The Bailiwick of Guernsey currency (GGY) is pegged at par with the British Pound Sterling (GBP) and the Guernsey decimal coinage is near identical in dimensions, composition and history to the equivalent British coins. Guernsey currency is "legal tender" only in Guernsey, but may be regarded as "acceptable tender" in Britain.
Because the portrait the image is based on is like that. Hamilton is the only person featured on U.S. currency not born in the United States, as he was from the West Indies. Hamilton is one of two non-presidents featured on currently issued U.S. bills. The other is Benjamin Franklin, on the $100 bill.
Carolyn Murphy is one of the current faces of Estee Lauder.
If you are thinking about people and faces, they should always face forwards or inwards. So a cameo portrait on the arm should look to the front, a cameo portrait on the chest should look inwards. Same with things like Sacred Hearts etc. Never let them put something on that faces the rear or outwards as it drives us professionals mental and annoys us aesthetically
