As with most animals, they drink water when it is available.
WATER
The barrel cactus can be a plant that animals can get water from in the desert.
Kangaroo rats of the North American Deserts are able to extract enough moisture from the food they eat and can go a life time without having to drink liquid water.
It really depends on the animal. Take humans, for example. I do believe we are 75 % water, while jelly fish are 95 % water, and some desert snakes are only 20 % water. Actually, 63% of a typical animal is water.
drink the water out of the radiator...
Some get the hydration from their prey, and some get it from the water in the desert cactus.
Water, and lots of it, is the preferred drink while in the desert. Alcohol and sugary soft drinks can lead to dehydration.
