There were over 16 million deaths & 20 million wounded ranking it among the deadliest conflicts in human history. The total number of deaths includes about 10 million military personnel & about 7 million civilians. In my opinion Himmler did nothing that was admirable or great. Even when he tried to surrender to the Allies he had his own personal agenda in mind. He was responsible for the deaths of 6 million Jews. He was also responsible for the deaths of 5 million other people Hitler considered "Undesirable". He was the head of the SS and they were really bad "dudes". Oh, sure he did a great job for Hitler but did nothing great for Germany or mankind.
