Windows 7 systems requirements is where you would look. During Windows 7 one would use the Upgrade option and install an edition of Windows Vista to Windows 7. Windows Update in Control Panel will open and install Windows Vista if you already have automatic update turned on.
You can download through windows update, and it will also install it for you.
If you want a Chinese language pack on Windows you should download one from the Windows Update. Then just follow directions and a couple minutes later you will be reading the language you want.
One can update Service Pack 2 on Windows XP Professional by visiting the Windows' update page. When on the Windows' website, press "update" and then install to complete the update.
If you have windows 7 you can upgrade to it. If you have windows XP you will need to do a complete install.
It doesn't matter if you install it on your PC that does have Home edition sticker as long as you have the proof (Windows XP Pro CD that you have bought with you). Microsoft only determines if you have a genuine copy of Windows when you download an update online from Microsoft so there is no worry on your side whether you reinstall the OS at anytime.
