Many elements can cause harm to the human body. Due to their highly reactive natures, pure forms of any Alkali Metal or Halogen can cause severe problems if ingested. Mercury and lead also have similar effects, among some less common elements. Any radioactive element (technetium, prometheum, most actinides, and any man-made elements) can cause harm by releasing dangerous alpha particles, beta particles, or gamma rays.

No element is necessarily harmful; any element can be either helpful or harmful, depending upon what you do with it. That said, I would nominate the element mercury as a particularly troublesome toxic pollutant.

Of the elements in the Periodic Table all of them can kill you in their pure form.

Any that are gases could asphyxiate you if they displaced the air you need to breath.

Fluorine, Chlorine, and Bromine are very caustic and breathing in the fumes will destroy your lungs.

Sodium, potassium, rubidium will all burst into vigorous flames if exposed to water.

All the heavy metals are toxic

All the radioactive ones can kill you via radiation. All of the solids can poison you in sufficient amounts - but for most of them it takes a fair amount to do that.

The ones that are thought of as particularly poisonous in their elemental form are:

Beryllium - greatly increases risk of cancer

Nickel - carcinogen

Arsenic

Selenium

Cadmium

Lead

Mercury

Some others are quite toxic - but are uncommon or rare enough that we don't normally worry about them.

Too much of any element in the periodic table can kill you. To paraphrase Paracelsus, "All things are poisonous, it is the dose that makes the poison."
