Lent, the forty days before Easter, mainly commemorates Jesus' last days on Earth, his passion, and his crucifixion. The last week of Lent is especially meaningful. Starting with Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, on which Jesus made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a colt, the week celebrates Jesus' final moments. Ash Wednesday was the day the day of the Passover Feast with Jesus and his disciples, and Good Friday was the day Jesus died, taking away all our sins. Finally, he rose again on Easter, conquering death and guaranteeing all of us eternal life with him.
Lent was not made, per say...... But, Jesus life leading up to his Passion was Lent. It happened 2,000 years ago and continues to be celebrated today! Hope this helps at least a little bit! Keep posting if not!
When he created the catholic church.
Lent is a time to prepare for the coming of Christ into one's life. It is a time to think about one's sins, about how to improve one's life, of how to be more Christlike, and of the sacrifice of Christ and salvation (the rising of Christ on Easter is the end of/celebration after Lent).
Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, three days after his crucifixion.
It his crucification and also his Reconstruction.
Death and Resurrection
I think Jesus had a great, short life of healing and doing miracle's.
If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ he is in your life continually (Jesus is your life). You think, do, act, speak Jesus very day. He is central in your life.
Yes we should. Although Lent is about Our Lord's Temptation in the wilderness, His Death is also contemplated during this time, as during both His Time in the wilderness & during His Passion, Our Lord was Most Vulnerable, & yet Overcame much.
Because it shows that Jesus gave something for us, his life, and now we must in some way give something to him, to show that we are thankful for him dying on the cross for us. Lent is when you give something up for Catholic holiday.
Lent starts 40 days before Easter becaue Jesus walked in the desert for forty days and forty nights without food or water before his public life as preparation for His ministry. In preparation for Easter we think it proper to imitate Christ by preparing ourselves in this period of approximately forty days of penitence for the most important part of the year, the celebration of the passion, death and Resurrection of our Lord. This is the central part of the Liturgical year, indeed, it is the central part of a Christian's life!
