his contributions to astronomy and physics made him famous. He supposedly taught theories that contradicted Aristotle's theories and was eventually put in jail especially for his theory that the earth was not the center of the universe. From what I know, Galileo wasn't put in jail. He was just put on house arrest for the last 9 years of his life. Sine he was very famous.
Galileo tested the denseity of gravity and tried to prove that the Sun was the center of our Solar Syatem. His true findings were discouraged because the supposed "true" story of the Earth being the center of the Solar System was partly based on The Bible. Anytime Galileo was caught trying to prove himself, he was sent to court and a few times to prison. Thanks to Glileo we know much more about our space now, but there is much more to explore.
It was curiosity which made galileo famous. For example: he did experiments to see if he is correct. That is what made Galileo Famous
he found out about gravity!
Galileo's biggest contribution to science was the way he learned about mechanics. Instead of just observing a in nature, he set up experiments. In fact, Galileo was the first scientist to routinely use experiments to test his theories.

no it would be dangeras
Galileo heard of their experiments and stared experimenting on his own.
