David was a well-known and well respected French painter, and Napoleon admired his work. Similarly, David was an admirer of Napoleon. Back in those days, photography had not been invented, so a famous person who wanted to preserve his or her image for future generations would usually hire a great artist to paint a portrait. That is why Napoleon asked David to paint his picture, so that he would be remembered in the future as a great and important leader.
I suppose you could say it would be "someone who doesn't paint."
first you would need to draw the picture of the person you are making a portrait of and then you paint it using water colors or other types of paint you would like

The cheapest painter would have to be the one with the boy in a blue cap on the front. I am not sure of the name of that brand but I do not see that brand as a luxe paint.
