The League of Nations was founded in 1919-1920 Or The Iroquois League was formed prior to 1492. Comprised of Mohawk, Onedia, Onodaga, Cayuga and Seneca tribes, and then the Tuscarora in the 18th Century. This united 5 and then 6 tribes under a Grand Council. Perhaps they arrived at the conclusion of "the sticks", whereby, one by one, each "stick" can easily be broken, but a bundle of 5 (then 6) is much harder to break. Certainly the 5 Nations played a major role and influence in early North American history.
the Mohawks,Oneidas,Onondagas, and the senecas formed the league of five nations
The Iroquois Confederacy! :)
The oldest American sport that has it's own major league is Lacrosse. The league, Major League Lacrosse was founded in 1999. The sport itself was played as far back as the 12th century by the Iroquois Nations.
