Italy's flag is a tricolor (green, white and red) Vertical flag
basically it meant italy. they had this flag for awhile.
There are no stars in Italy flag,it's green, white, and red respectivily.
Marco Polo was from Spain, therefore his flag would be the Spanish flag. Marco Polo is in fact from Venice, Italy. The flag would be Italy's, but I cannot find an illustration from that period.

Well, a white flag is known for a state of surrender. Italy is supposedly a 'wimp' (the 'he' part in 'He'talia) and they show that part off more with italy waving a white flag in surrender all the time.
