In 1846 Manuel Armijo was the Governor of the Mexican Province of New Mexico. Brigadier General Stephen W. Kearny led an army of 1,700 soldiers into Santa Fe to claim it and the New Mexico Territory for the United States. The Mexican military forces in New Mexico retreated to Mexico without fighting and Kearny's forces easily took control of New Mexico.

It was formed shortly after the end of the Civil War. According to the British Armed forces website it came into being 1661. Cromwell and his New Model Army were on Parliament's side against the Royalists.
World War I was a global conflict for a number of reasons: -It involved fighting in the European powers' colonies in Africa, China and the Pacific. -It involved countries that were outside of Europe, such as the United States, Japan, and the countries of the British Empire (Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and South Africa), as well as the European countries' colonial forces.
This stunning victory was in New Orleans where the US Military, led by Major General Andrew Jackson routed the British forces. It was more decisive in American minds than from an actual military perspective as the Treaty of Ghent (ending the war) had been signed in Belgium on December 24, 1814, but the British defeat in New Orleans vindicated the US as a nation.
