It's all really your own opinion. Some people prefer Battlefield 3 because it is more "realistic" than MW3, but some people like MW3 because its faster paced. There are many differences, such as bigger maps, better lighting, realistic sounds etc. But for you to really know which one you like you would need to play them both.
