The American Indians helped the pilgrims in America. They taught the pilgrims how to cultivate the land. The pilgrims would not have survived without the help of the Native Americans.
At first, many Native Americans were friendly to the Pilgrims, but they soon learned to distrust them once they realized that the Pilgrims were there to take over their land.
The Wampanoag tribe formed an alliance with the Pilgrims in 1621. Led by Chief Massasoit, the Wampanoag provided crucial support to the settlers, helping them survive their first harsh winter in America. This alliance is famously commemorated during the first Thanksgiving celebration.
About half of the 60 Pilgrims had died when the Native Americans began to provide help, so there would have been more Native Americans.

The Indians didnt quite like the pilgrims for barging in on their homeland. But after the Indians saw the pilgrims plight they helped them by teaching them how to make things. In gratitude the Pilgrims invited the Indians for a 3 day feast aka Thanksgiving.
