It's not preferable to speak about 'forces' when considering crashes or impacts. Force depends not only on the projectile, but also the target, so it's better to describe projectiles using kinetic energy they carry.
Formula for kinetic energy of moving body is:
Ek = mv2 / 2
It's quite hard to compare bullets and arrows due to big variety both in firearms and in bows and arrows. Let's try however.
Arrow with mass of 25g, which may travel at 75m/s:
Ek = 61 J
Bullet 5.56x45mm with a mass of 4 g flying at 940m/s:
Ek = 1620 J
Gun bullet (.45 ACP) with mass of 12g at 373m/s:
Ek = 835 J
Comparison seems favourable for firearms.
Remember though that 'stopping power' and possibility of fatal injury isn't only affected by kinetic energy.
Bows and other weapons are not toys and should be handled with responsiblity.
Note: Though it is true old longbows cannot outclass a firearm in modern warfare, a longbow arrow has more penetration, 4 inches of solid oak and then 6 inches more out the other end at 30-50 yards, and has been tested and successfully penetrated a bullet proof vest. This is due to the heavier weight, better transfer of momentum, and solid pointed tip not shredding like a bullet. Makes you wonder what would have happened if they continued advancements in tension based weaponry?
time
If the force is not greater than the weight of the bale, the bale will not move.
No. "Negative correlation" means no relationship can be found between the two quantities. But in the case of the gravitational force, there is a definite, bullet-proof, mathematical connection between the distance and the force. Since a greater distance leads to a smaller force, the relationship is said to be "inverse", but the correlation is definitely not "negative".
if force of impact is extended over period time the country might be destroy like what happen o Haiti .
Sir Isaac Newton's 3rd Law of Motion states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. A firearm propels a bullet towards a target, the mass (~weight) of the bullet and its acceleration create a force in the opposite direction of the bullet's travel. You can play around with the bullet's mass (~weight) and its velocity to get equal recoil: 1- bullet 20grams, accelerates at 100m/s has the same recoil as: 2- bullet 200grams, accelerating at 10m/s (recoil force = 2000 for both)
which vehicle is the impact force greater? the bicycle.which vehicle undergoes the greater change in its motion? the bicycle
The tip of an arrow is pointed and so it exerts very little pressure on the water surface. Also the shape of the arrow is streamlined so that it has as little Resistance as possible. However, the tip of the regular bullet is blunt and so it exerts more force than the arrow when it comes in contact with the water surface. And the deflection of the bullet in the water will be more than that of the arrow away from the normal due to reflective index.
The bicycle would have the greatest impact force.
They are exactly equal. The bullet travels faster, and weighs less. The gun recoils more slowly, but weighs much more.
No. The size-weight of the bullet also affects the knockdown power. Power, kinetic energy, force and momentum: they are all related, and each one carries a 'mass' component. It is, more expressly. the size of the Force or momentum of a moving object that determines its affect on other objects; and force and momentum are directly determined by both - the speed of the moving object and the size of its mass. As it requires a greater force to move the larger bullet in the first place, which therefore means greater energy expended to do so, so at the other end that greater energy is conserved in the larger bullet, and therefore hits its target with greater force and energy.
Like all laws of physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.In this case, the bullet has a motion propelled by kinetic energy and the skin is the opposing force or reaction.Since the bullet's force is greater than the skin;s resisting force, it pierces the skin, the point first curve sufficing the laceration to the skin, for the bullet to go through.
The force is the same on both vehicles. The acceleration produced by the force will be greater on the lower-mass vehicle.
both experience the same impact
metaphor. It compares love to an arrow, emphasizing the force and impact of emotions.
The first Law of Physics says "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". They experience exactly the same force.
Dipoles are a form of intermolecular force which holds molecules together. The greater the intermolecular force, usually the greater the boiling point, for example.
A force can be represented by an arrow in which the size of the force is represented by the length of the arrow (on some artbitrary but defined scale) and the direction of the force is the diretion of the arrow.
