Growth hormone
Gigantism is abnormally large growth due to an excess of growth hormone during childhood, before the bone growth plates have closed.
A person with gigantism or acromegaly has an excess amount of growth hormone, and grows too much, which not only makes that person very tall, but also somewhat distorts their body proportions.
Gigantism is a condition characterized by excessive growth and height due to an overproduction of growth hormone, typically caused by a benign tumor on the pituitary gland. This condition usually occurs before the closure of the growth plates during childhood or adolescence, resulting in a person being abnormally tall. Symptoms can include increased hand and foot size, thickened facial features, and health complications related to excessive growth hormone levels.
There is no one particular hormone responsible for making a person sad but rather the lack of a hormone or hormones. Sadness may result from an emotional experience like the death of a loved one or it can be due to the lack of serotonin or melatonin.
No. Once the epiphyseal (growth) plates at the end of your long bones (femur, humerus, etc), have fused (a result of your sex hormone in puberty), you can no longer grow in height (without repeated breaking and moulding of the bones) The pituitary hormone responsible for growth - the Growth Hormone (original), if in excess in a post-pubertal person, will result in acromegaly, a condition where the soft tissue will swell, as does some other bones (notably, your forehead & jaw). If all this was to occur in someone pre-pubertal, it would resort in gigantism - and yes you would continue to grow.
The hormones which are responsible are the sex hormones. Testosterone in boys and estrogen in girls.
It is well known that gigantism can cause various issues with a person's skeletal system and circulatory sysetm, because of the sheer size of the person, so the chance of living a long healthy life is slim. You must also consider the fact that if the person is too tall, they may not be able to walk confortably or without assistance, so it's hard to get exersice which will lead to a shorter life-span. You can make your own prediction using this information on how long the average person with gigantism lives, my guess is nothing over 60-70 years of ae.
