ACTH contacts the zona glomerulosa of the Adrenal cortex and in the presence of Angiotensisn II, secretes Aldosterone.
Aldosterone stimilates the kidneys to conserve sodium and excrete potassium. "Where sodium goes, water follows." So, by osmosis, water follows the conserved sodium and is also conserved.
The Angiotensin II necessary for Aldosterone to be secreted is the final product of the Renin-Angiotensin Cascade. Both ACTH and Angiotensin II are necessary for Aldosterone to be secreted by the Adrenal Gland.
Additionally, the Hypothalamus secretes Anti-diuretic Hormone channeled through the posterior lobe of the pituatary gland which also conserves water. When stretch receptors in the urinary bladder signal that all is full, the Antidiuretic Hormone secretion is suspended and we urinate.

∙ 11y agoVassopressin also called Anti-Diuretic Hormone (ADH) is secreted by the hypothalamus and it increases the number of aquaporins in the tubules of the nephron thus increasing water re-uptake by the kidneys. It is secreted when the brain senses that Blood Pressure has fallen and more water needs to be kept to increase BP.
