It depends on your play style and what you are building your character to excel at. The difference in the types is:
Mogul: This character type has increased cash flow with cash coming in every 54 minutes instead of every hour. A Mogul is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Bagman. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Bagman in a friends mafia you have the chance to earn double the money from performing jobs.
Fearless: This character type has increased health regeneration. A Fearless character is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Wheelman. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Wheelman in a friends mafia you have the chance to complete jobs without spending any energy!!!!
Maniac: This character type has increased energy regeneration with a new energy point being awarded every 3 minutes instead of every 5 minutes. A Maniac is also the only character type that can be a Top Mafia Button man. If assigned to be a Top Mafia Button man in a friend's mafia you have the chance to automatically win any fight that you initiate.
If you don't care much about fighting and just want the fastest leveling character you can make then you will do best to choose a fearless and dump all your points into energy. After the first day of playing with careful choice of which jobs you perform and managing your energy efficiently you will be able to level nonstop.
If you want a fighter or hybrid character then Maniac will probably be the best choice. Earning experience with fighting uses stamina which is much less efficient than using energy so you will need to regain your energy as fast as possible. The chance to always win fights when you are a button man is also nice for this build.
There's really no reason to ever choose mogul. The few advantages it has are far outweighed by the advantages of the other 2 classes.
