The Sempron line replaced the Duron line beginning in 2004. Sempron processors are faster than Duron processors by the very nature of being newer, though they target the same market segment.
A Athlon II is better than a Sempron. This though is based on the latest models released from both lines and not socket type.
Yes, It is compatible.
You can use an amd sempron or an amd athlon II with an am3 socket, but when am3 was released it was meant to be used with the amd phenom line of CPUs. You can use all three: amd sempron, amd athlon II & amd phenom.
Depends - AMD make lots of different processors - What one are you looking at (Athlon, Phenom, Sempron)
Semprons' are single-core processors except for the 4 "Brisbane" models which are the only dual-core Semprons'. And the fastest Semprons' are "Sargas" models (based off the Phenom II) and the "Sargas" have a top default frequency of 2.8 GHz. Semprons' are designed to be a low-budget processor. Athlons' have a long and large line; the original Athlon, Athlon 64, Athlon x2, Athlon XP, and Athlon II. Athlons' are now the mid to low-budget processor. the Athlon line offers a huge diversity of choices. Athlon II is based off the Phenom II processor. The main difference is the aimed target group which is budget level for either processor. They both share similar architecture and some of both are based off the Phenom II.
As the Celeron D is a product line and not a specific processor, there is no specific comparable processor. Depending on the model. the Celeron D is comparable in performance to various Athlon 64, Athlon XP, and Sempron processors.
I'm playing it on a Sempron 1.8, so I'd say yes.
sempron is not a dual core processor.
Athlon XP 3200+
Compaq Presario SR1320NX is a very old computer launched in 2004. It has got an Asus K8S-LA motherboard. The motherboard has got SiS 760/964 chipset and socket is 754. Socket 754 supports athlon 64 and sempron 64 series processors. The Athlon II X2 family requires Socket AM2+ or Socket AM3. Recommended processors for your motherboard are AMD Athlon 64 3700+ processor (Clawhammer, 2.4 GHz), AMD Athlon 64 3400+ processor (Newcastle, 2.4 GHz) or AMD Sempron. The motherboard also comes with 1 AGPand 3 PCI expansion slots. GeForce 8400 GS requires a PCI Express x16 which is not present on the board. For upgrades it would be better to buy a new motherboard, processor and DDR3 RAM. rather than spending money on processor and graphics card for the old motherboard.
The fastest "classic" Athlon is the Athlon 1400C. The fastest 32-bit Athlon is probably the Athlon XP 3200+.The fastest processor with the Athlon name is probably the AMD Athlon 64 FX-74.
This questions is not right, try with clock memory or AMD Sempron but not both in one !
Athlon was created in 1999.
