This all depends on the individual you are asking this to. Like there are contributors, there are opinions as to what each likes better: cats or dogs. Feel free to add anything I've missed.
Cats:
- They are cleaner and keep themselves clean by giving themselves "baths" after every meal
- They are not big and intimidating like dogs are
- They require little maintenance, except for food, water, a litter box, and a little love
- You don't have to walk them twice a day
- They are small enough to curl up in your lap or around your neck like a scarf
- You know they are happy because they purr when they are happy and relaxed
- "Cats rule and dogs drool!"
- They are funny creatures when they play and chase a mouse or ball across the floor
- Kittens are soooo cute!
- Kittens take a little less training than puppies do as far as house-training goes
- They are very quiet (except at feeding time!) and keep to themselves most of the time, not yipping, whining, barking or anything like that all the time
- Cats are smarter than dogs, and can often alert us to danger or something new and exciting quicker than dogs can/will
- They make great companions, but only if they want to be with you
- You don't have to take them everywhere you go when you have to go out for a day or two
- Are great to have in a small apartment or condo that won't allow dogs of any kind
- Are great mousers, and even will catch and eat flies or moths that happen to get in the house
Dogs:
- Are very loyal creatures
- Love to be around you all the time, especially if you have no other human companion to live with
- Are considered one of Nature's creatures that humans have that brings us humans back to our natural, instinctual beings, in a way.
- Can help a person get out more often and do things than you would with just house cats
- Are the best and most common domesticated animals that are trained to be used in police, rescue, and military services, as well as walkers and care-givers for the disabled
- They also are able to be used for far more jobs than cats are, including hunting various animals (according to the breed), trailing/tracking, herding, protection/guardian, rescue, draught, and even fighting.
- People prefer dogs over cats if they are allergic to cats
- Are willing to follow their leader around wherever they go, and are, more often than not, eager to follow commands or just stay with the "pack."
- Are great to have if you don't like cats, and don't have a girlfreind/boyfriend/roommate to share your space with
- Will accept a new friend, be it dog or cat, much faster than cats will with other cats or dogs, so long as it has been properly socialized as a puppy
- As puppies, they take a lot of dedication and care to grow into a wonderful, obedient and loving dog.
- Most dogs will come when called: Cats often won't.
- Dogs love to please: cats will please their owner only when they feel like it.
- Dogs have owners, cats have staff.
Both Dogs & Cats:
- A mix of all that was mentioned above
- Cats and dogs, despite popular belief, can actually get along quite well.
- Dogs will follow the master around, and will respect a cat's space and opinion of where said dog should and shouldn't be.
- Are for people who love all animals.
- Both need to be trained as much as the other to know their boundaries, rules and limitations
- Both dogs and cats can find themselves in cruely situations as much as the other; dogs more than cats since there are many dog-fighting operations that are currently running in secret under the police and animal rescue organizations' noses.
- Are for those who love to have a cat curled up in their lap purring loudly and a dog curled up at their feet or on the couch beside them.
- Love the challenge of working with two different species in the same household.
Well, it depends on your personality
I like dogs better because they are a bit funner, Other people may think cats are better because they are more quiet and peaceful.
i love dogs and cats but its all based on opinion.

You spay a female dog and cat, you neuter a male dog and cat.

Dog
I own a dog and a cat. If i don't wash my dog, he will smell, but I have never washed my cat and it doesn't smell. So I would say, a cat smells better.
A cat.
A cat can taste better than a dog, that is why they are so picky!
no a dog has better memories
Because it's in the chain of the cat eating the bird and then dog eating the cat.
A cat is cleaner but a dog has personality and personality goes a long way.
A Male dog... never a male cat...always
There is no "better" - all people are different.
Cats hear better then dogs.
