It depends of usage, what you should consider about is: How many clients will connect concurrently to computer for example, you can make print server from about workstation, but it can serve only ten maximum clients, it is ten the maximum concurrent connections for workstation. If nine is all u need, then it is possible to make workstation to act like a server. Of course workstation couldn't serve all services like real server. The biggest different is the hardware, real server hardware is planned for maximum memory and so on, display adapters are typically very lite versions, because anybody else than administrator is interested about what the servers display says. Workstation has typically better display adapters and so on. If you meant with your question, that what hardware you should choice, then you have to choice. Server doesn't typically have any soundboard's they have poor display adapters, but they are expensive Typically server has gone through better testing and all hardware is planned for servicing clients with no interruption about hardware failure.
