The main caused of component failure especially electronic part is power surging or spikes to best protect the parts is to install a good power surge protector.
A diode (some people incorrectly call them rectifiers) is a semiconductor device that allows a current to flow in one direction. A Zener diode allows a reverse to current to flow at a defined voltage. A common application for them is as a voltage regulator. Named for C M Zener , US Physicist. A zener diode is a diode and like all diodes it will conduct in both directions. If a reversed voltage is applied it will breakdown and conduct current. Most diodes when they breakdown the reversed voltage cannot be predictable. However a zener diode when they do breakdown in the reverse voltage mode that voltage can be made as predictable and remain +/- % of the breakdown voltage. Therefore this steady voltage can be used as a regulator for instance or a definite voltage drop if need be.
The "size" (value or the power capacity) of the resistor can not be defined unless the power of the 3 volt bulb is known. If you tell me how many amps would the bulb draw from a 3 volt source, I will tell you exactly how many ohms of resistance, and how many watts of power capacity will be required of the resistor.
in dc circiuts only resistors are responsible for voltage drop. where as in ac circuits inductances and capacitances are also responsible for voltage drop in addition to that of ressistors
The 7809 IC is a three-terminal nine volt linear regulator IC. You provide 11 or more volts on two terminals, and the IC provides a regulated 9 volts on two terminals, one of which is common, i.e. ground. It is useful in simple circuits, where only a few amperes is required, though it can be boosted using power transistors. For higher current applications, however, a switching regulator design is better.
If the voltage drop is excessive, it is a sign that the circuit conductors may be undersized. Better to install larger conductors. If you try to use a transformer, under light loads the voltage will rise to unacceptable levels, possibly damaging equipment.
A: At one time it was used for a regulator because in the reverse voltage breakdown it has the characteristic of keeping the voltage constant as voltage is increased. IT has being replaced by many three terminal regulator with much better regulation and temperature coefficient
IC voltage regulator performs better than any analog voltage regulator. Some IC regulators IC no. are given below- Positive IC voltage regulator- 78xx Negative IC voltage regulator-79xx where xx varies according to the use of ICs raring. as 7805 gives the positive 5 Volt & 7905 gives the negative 5 volt.
Percent Regulation is the regulation expressed as a percentage is a figure of merit used to specify the performance of a voltage regulator.
It depends on the application, and on the implementation of the UPS. Some UPS devices function as an AVR by boosting the output voltage when the input voltage sags. A UPS will also help you during a complete power outage, which an AVR will not. A UPS however has batteries which need to be periodically replaced. An AVR does not, which means less maintenance.
check the battery white meter while accelerating the gas pedal if you get voltage be twin 12 to 14 you are fine but if you get more than 14 volt its better change the regulator because its gone harm your battery .
You reduce voltage in a DC circuit with a resistor. If the power demands are high, however, you may need a switching voltage regulator.

First of all look for a surge protector with a UL (Underwriters Laboratory) rating. If it does not have one you can rest assured is junk. But just because it has one does not mean is an excellent surge protector. Be sure that the product is listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor. Get a surge protector with a minimum of 1200 joules. Normally the more money you spend the better protection you get but, that is not necessarily always the case.
Krakauer felt better after harris turns the valve on the regulator because he wanted to conserve his oxygen tank.
Yes, manual is better than automatic gears.
Neon gas has a break-down voltage of about 70 volts. When the gas (in a neon voltage regulator tube) breaks down, the gas glows red. If more voltage is applied (within sensible limits) the voltage drop across the neon VR tube will still be 70 volts. This action by itself could result in a large current flowing in the gas tube and possibly to destroy it, so a resistor is placed in series with the neon VR tube to limit the current. And this is better for the neon tube as well. THUS a neon voltage regulator tube forms a reference voltage which can be used, with clever circuitry, to regulate any voltage. Other gas mixtures are used for other voltages. There are solid-state devices with similar properties.
You'd need to define your criteria by which you define "better". Most military doctrines dictate that riflemen fire in semi-automatic, and are supported by automatic weapons. Which is "better" depends on purpose, typically.
