Hi, Electric heating it self is more efficient, however the way the electric is produced is not.
typically for every 1kW of power you put into to an electric heater you get 1kW out, but it to produce the electric it takes 3kW of coal ect, to produce 1kW of electric. A gas boiler can be 98% efficient so overall better.
So unless you have way of producing electric yourself or have an efficient supplier, go for gas.
Hope this helps.
The cheapest option between electric, radiators and central heating is Gas Central Heating. The reason that gas is cheaper than electric is because electricity costs 4-6 times more than gas.
It is if you use it the right way. You can end up having a three hundred dollar electric bill if you don't by energy efficient appliances.
I think that is best answer is central heating. Provided also make sure its electric it is cheaper than gas and can save you a lot of money, If you have any questions contact your local home depot.

any type of electric used for heat is expensive. but heating the home is cheaper in the long run because it use's 220 volts of electric heat. were as a fireplace would use 115 volts. which draws more amps then running on 220 volts
