The president gets information from many sources. The sources vary depending on the type of information it is. Each cabinet secretary supplies information pertaining to his department and his area of expertise. The joint chiefs supply military information . The CIA gives him what information their operatives pick up. His staff give him political advice and legal opinions . Leaders in Congress and various state officials bring matters to his attention. His staff read newspapers and news magazines, foreign and domestic, and monitor TV news sources and tell him what they think he needs to know.
