There is no such thing as the 'strongest' natural disaster. All natural disasters are strong in the own ways and sense. Certain disasters can cause more things to be destroyed while other can cause more deaths. All natural disasters are equally strong. Having experienced the largest hurricane (at that time) to have hit the Texas coast, having lived 10 miles from the epicenter of the 1971 San Fernando earthquake, and having seen my share of tornados living in Michigan, I'll take the tornados. For shear unnameable terror, the earthquake wins hands down. For lasting images that bring back fresh old fear, the hurricane is a close second. Imagine being awakened while the light is still dim, by your bed dancing around your bedroom, and your entire house shaking. your belongings falling off shelves, cases and cabinets falling over, being unable to stand. Imagine being hustled from your home to the sound of air raid sirens. Watching as the sky turns black at mid day. Looking out the window of the shelter you are hiding in as the trees are stripped of leaves before being uprooted and snatched away out of sight. Seeing cars tumble by as if they were made of cardboard. While every natural disaster is unique and has a power all its own, there are experiences that stay with a person for life.
