Anubis was, to the Greeks perceived as Hermes, who could enter travel to whatever kingdom he desired, and this much was true of Anubis and many of the ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses as well; they were not "stuck" in kingdoms and roles, Hathor once became Sekhmet a Eye of Ra to slay the enemies of Ra.
