This depends on your computing needs. Technically, a tablet could provide the lightest and most portable computing, but it has its limitations such as having to have a keyboard plugged into it to do the most efficient word processing and a lack of larger memory or more powerful processing units. Netbooks are small, highly portable "mini laptops" with long battery life that are excellent for document processing and editing, email, web browsing and less heavy processing tasks like light audio or photo editing. Past this, however, the computer will not be able to do tasks requiring more powerful processing like play advanced games or render videos. There are also now a range of small laptops with screens larger than netbook screens which are inexpensive but can service basic computer needs, such as the Asus X55A-DS91 or X55C-DH31.
