concave mirrors are used as dental mirrors. this is because concave mirrors produce highly magnified images which is useful in obtaining larger view of teeth and gums.
A convex mirror is used for:- A spotlight..... the light in right in the middle and the convex mirror is behind it so the light that shines back ward's hits the mirror and reflect's back and bends into a focal point. A concave mirror is used for:- Dentist mirror.... to magnify a potion's teeth. They are also used in car light's but is very hard to explain. The first answer above relates to a concave mirror.
Not sure about mirrors but convex and concave lenses are used to treat conditions such as long/short sightedness.
Convex mirrors are often used for side mirrors (if the mirror has a note saying "objects in mirror are closer than they appear," it's convex; it may be convex even without such a note).
The outer curved part is coated with mercury as the inner would reflect light in case of concave mirror. Whereas the inner is coated as to make the outer to act as reflector in case of convex mirror. Concave mirror can give both real and virtual images for a real object depending on the location of object. But convex on the other hand can give only virtual image with a real object irrespective of the position of the object. Next, concave mirror can be used as shaving mirror. Also used to converge the parallel beam of light. Convex mirror is best used as rear view mirror in case of vehicles.
A shaving mirror is concave as it used used to magnify the image.
Concave mirrors are used in telescopes. Convex mirrors are used as side-view mirrors in cars.
convex mirror is not used in solar cooker since it form image inside the polished surface

Neither, a clock is an instrument used to tell the time, it has nothing to do with a mirror.

The concave shape focuses the light into a narrow beam. If the mirror was convex, the light would be spread out - useless for searching into any distance.
Both give diminished, virtual, erect image. Hence convex mirror is used as rear view glass in case of vehicles near by the drivers. Concave lens is used to correct short sightedness.
Convex usually, its used as a light source and not as a magnifier (or imager of any sort).
