Air does not go through the body... it goes in and out. The diaphragm and intercostal muscles are responsible for moving air in and out of your body. In very young children, abdominal muscles may also be used in moving air in and out. Additionally, when a person has trouble breathing their body may use other muscle groups to assist with breathing... these are called "accessory muscles." They might include the muscles in your face (to flare your nostrils or purse your lips), neck, or abdomine.

It's not actually "in your rib" but at the bottom of the rib cage, and it's called the diaphragm.

I believe It's called the Diaphragm.

It moves up and pushes air out of your lungs when you exhale, and moves down to allow air into your lungs when you inhale
