There are about 20 muscles in a forearm, consisting of flexors and extensors. Flexors are responsible for flexing the forearm, wrist, and fingers.
The biceps brachii, the brachialis and the brachioradialis.
Brachialis
The brachioradialis is a muscle found in the forearm that helps flex the forearm at the elbow. It is capable of pronation and supination.
The Pronator Teres muscle pronates the forearm at the radioulnar joint. It also provides flexion of the forearm at the elbow joint
Biceps Brachii flexes the forearm and the Triceps Brachii extends the forearm.
The function of the biceps brachii is to flex your arm at the elbow. However, even though that is the most visible muscle, the brachialis muscle is considered the prime mover in flexing at the elbow.
The bicep is a muscle on the upper arm that is designed to rotate the forearm and flex the elbow. See link below for more information.
to flex the forearm at the elbow, you use the biceps brachii, brachialis, and brachioradial (to a lesser extent).to supinate the forearm, you use the biceps brachii and the supinator muscles.the biceps brachii does both motions.
it is easier to flex the elbow when your forearm is supinated because it is putting less tension on the muscles and ligaments as supposed to in pronated.
It either expands or contracts depending on which way you're bending your elbow.
contracted muscle and relaxed muscle whats are the difference? contracted muscle means its very very contracted and relaxed muscle means its very very relaxed
It's easier to flex the right elbow when your forearm is supinated because the palm is turned upward.
The interesting thing about the Biceps Humerous (Bicep=Two Heads Humerus=Attached to the humerus bone) is that its main function is NOT to flex the elbow joint. This is moslty done by Brachialis muscle although the Biceps does help. The main action of the biceps, and also what is does if it is not flexing the elbo is to Suppinate the Forearm. This means to turn the palm from facing backwards to facing forwards. In fact the biceps cannot flex the elbow unledd the forearm has first been supinated.
extensorThe triceps brachii is an extensor. It is the large muscle on the back of the arm and is primarily the muscle used for extension of the elbow joint or straightening of the arm. The triceps is also an antagonist of the biceps and the brachialis muscles.ExtensorsTriceps is not a flexor. It is extensor of the elbow joint.
