Classical Music, as defined as the musical period dating from 1750-1825 (depending on your view as Beethoven's work as classical or romantic in his later years), has inspired many types of music. Directly following the Classical Period was the Romantic Period (1825-1900) which was followed by the Impressionistic Period and so on. Each preceeding area, by nature of musical evolution, had an impact on the period thereafter. Classical music continues to inspire musicians today. Who has not heard of Mozart or Beethoven's (extreemly overplayed) Moonlight Sonata? (Pity most people never listen to the entire work!) Thanks to the form developed throughout the classical period, we have ways of intelligently discussing music and utilizing it in an orderly fashion (or, once a proper understanding of the rules has been achieved, completely disregarding the 'rules' to create something entirely unique.) In closing, I do not believe that all of the specific genre's of music that have been inspired by classical music can be named simply because it impossible to ask every musician that has ever lived, "Were you ever inspired by classical music?" All in all, while the direct impact of classical music on a particular style of music may not be immediately visable, it is certain that classical music has molded and encouraged music as a whole, and, without that influence, I am certain we would not enjoy some of the great music we have today.

Classical music is a broad term of music of the western culture. It is a combination of the Western Art music that began in the Medieval period, typically called the common practice period, and most regional musical styles and genres. It is the music of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, particularly the 18th and 19th centuries. Some of the main genres of classical music are symphonies, concertos, sonatas, chamber music and solo instrumental performances.
Classical music influences have shaped modern music genres by introducing complex harmonies, structures, and instrumentation that have been adapted and incorporated into various styles such as jazz, rock, and electronic music.
