The United States and The USSR.
A unipolar world arises when a single nation dominates global power dynamics, often due to military, economic, and cultural superiority. The end of the Cold War marked a significant shift, leading to the United States emerging as the preeminent superpower, largely due to its unparalleled military capabilities and economic influence. Globalization and technological advancements further solidified this dominance, allowing the leading power to shape international norms and institutions. Additionally, the lack of a competing superpower can reinforce this unipolarity, as seen in the diminished influence of other states or coalitions.

The United Nations was formed as a result of World War 2.
In the aftermath of World War II, a country in economic ruin may appeal to a world superpower for monetary aid to rebuild its infrastructure and stabilize its economy. Such assistance could take the form of loans, grants, or investments, aimed at revitalizing industry and promoting social welfare. The superpower may view this aid as an opportunity to strengthen geopolitical alliances and foster stability in the region, potentially influencing the recipient country's political landscape in the process. Ultimately, this partnership could lead to long-term economic growth and recovery for the devastated nation.
The industrious nation of China will soon be a world superpower.

United States
In today's world, it's a nation that possess's nuclear weapons (and has the capacity to use them-a delivery system). Prior to nukes, a super-power had battleships (and lot's of them). Large Armies were not indications of a superpower...any large body of men armed with sticks constituted an Army; and such an Army would not be construed to be a superpower...by any stretch of the imagination. But it takes money (and lot's of it), and technology to build a battleship (and lot's of them); more so than any other type of war machinery. Therefore, if a nation had the money & technology to build a fleet of battleships; they were a superpower. Today: If a nation has the money & technology to build a lot of atomic weapons AND the delivery systems that go with those weapons, they're a superpower.

The Unied States
The US Government focused the nation's economic resources primarily on the war efforts.
After the Cold War, the United States emerged as the world's leading superpower. Even as a superpower, the US cannot enforce all of its policies on the rest of the countries in the world.
The Unied States
By the end of World War Two, the US had displayed the ability to fight successfully on two major fronts and had the technology for the atomic bomb. One can also note that its geographical position helped to foster this situation. The US geographical position at that time also created within the US an economic advantage no other nation had. Because of the lack of world wide technology, the two major oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic, afforded the US with these advantages,to emerge from the war as superpower.
