The first step in developing a research paper is choose a topic...
i want to know ,can i go for research in enviromental microbiology
Some of the new methods or solutions to cure diseases are often considered controversial. Like stem cell research. There have been debates recently over whether or not it is ethical to use them to, for example, repair limbs or crippled portions of a person's body. And while these may not always be controversial, it can lead to the questioning of ethics if we use them to improve what we have already. Can conflict religion as well, but that's a whole other topic.
At this moment, I am conducting research and examining this very topic. It is hard to find information. Anyway, I believe magnets do not really affect regeneration in planaria and f they do- the effect is slight and not quantifiable.
"Salt kills slugs" is a hypothesis, not a topic statement.
Good popular debate topics are the following: -Healthcare -Whether or not social networking sites are safe -Abortion -Death Penalty
A good research topic based on a current event, would be the law passed in Texas about the abortion laws. This would likely cause a debate, but there's a lot to write about it.

Topic is a discussion and discussion is a synonym for debate
A thesis statement
You have to know what the topic is. Then you should research about your countrys status in that feild. Once you are done with that, you can look into other countries issues on that topic so you can pose questions to them.
Research topic
That will depend on their individual, ethical belief on the matter. It is a controversial topic. If you would like to know more about this serious debate, read the following article, "Turning Ritalin into a Recreational Drug": http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5491/turning_ritalin_into_a_recreational.html?cat=5
yes the topic of the research can be broader then the topic of short essay
Yes, the topic is suitable for a research paper. It provides a comprehensive scope to explore the various methodologies employed by forensic scientists that aid in crime-solving. By delving into the effectiveness, limitations, and advancements in these methods, a research paper can offer valuable insights into the field of forensic science.
It's called a 'Topic'.
