Perhaps the Exon Valdise.
The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
On April 20,2010 an oil spill exploded what be the worst oil spill in history
The Exxon Valdez oil spill was on midnight on March 24, 1989. It was considered as the second worst oil spill in US history.
No, the biggest one was in the Persian Gulf located between Western Asia and Iran.
Gulf War oil spill: 1,360,000-1,500,000 tonsThe worst oil spill in history, the Gulf War oil spill spewed an estimated 8 million barrels of oil into the Persian Gulf after Iraqi forces opened valves of oil wells and pipelines as they retreated from Kuwait in 1991. The oil slick reached a maximum size of 101 miles by 42 miles and was five inches thick.
another BP oil spill in their area lol yea
The Gulf of Mexico oil spill is about four times worse and rising. This is not the worst leakage of oil though in the gulf. Mexico had a 110 million gallon leak in 1979. We are quickly approaching that level of leak.
The worst oil spill ever happend in march 15, 1910 in Kern County, California when a man named Julius Fried bought a patch of land hoping to strike it rich with oil. Months passed and the drill hit 2,200 feet (670 meters) below the surface, and the well erupted and gushed uncontrollably for 18 months spewing 9 million barrels of oil. About 5 million barrels were captured and sold.
the last oil spill was the oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico
The Ixtoc I oil well blowout, in 1979. It released 3.3 to 3.6 million oil barrels which eventually hit the coast of Texas. It is regarded as the second worst oil spill to date, behind the Gulf War oil spill (10-12 million oil barrels).
The BP oil spill is the worst Gulf Coast oil spill (second place is Ixtoc-1 in 1979), but it is not the worse spill in the world. Some consider the sinking of US oil tankers by German uboats to be the worst (~1943) , when summed together. Others would consider the Gulf War oil spill, however this was not an accidental oil spill. Wikipedia states the BP oil spilled is between 4.1 to 4.3 million barrels. Other websites quote 4.9 million barrels which is the semi-official estimate of oil from the Macondo well, but BP was able to recover 800,000 barrels, so 4.1 million barrels would appear (at least for now) to be the better estimate. These comparisons are not easy. A spill in the open ocean (as some with some tanker spills) may cause much less environmental damage, than the BP spill. Also, BP was able to skim, burn and disperse some of the spilled oil. See link.
