It depends on what your needs are, and what kind of user experience you want to have. Both Apple/iOS and Android have fairly strong ecosystems, have the largest app catalogs (App Store for Apple, Google Play and Amazon for Android), has plenty of developer support, and both have a plethora of accessories available. Both Apple and Android's operating systems have reached the point where they both have very similar features (iOS 8.1 and Android 5.0 as of this writing). There are distinct differences:Apple--

At the moment I don't like there is one for Android ( I was looking for one this morning). I know they definitely have it for iPhone but not Android :( Hope that helps :)

The iPhone's App Store has way more, AND all in ONE place.
The iPhone and Android phones both use their own languages for programming applications: the iPhone uses Objective - C, where Android uses Java.
Apple and Google both have fantastic app stores. But Android is far superior at organizing apps, letting you put important stuff on the home screens and hide less useful apps in the app drawer. Also, Android's widgets are much more useful than Apple's.
