Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' highest awards are the Order of the National Hero, the Order of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the Medal of Honor. These awards are granted for exceptional service and contributions to the country.
We celebrate any feast day to honor particular saints for their great service to God and Christianity. When we honor the saints, we honor their Creator - God. Much the same as if we honor a great painting or sculpture or piece of music, we honor the person who created it.
The Order of Saint Stephen was created on October 10, 1561, by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo I de' Medici. It was established to honor distinguished military service and achievements for the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. The order remains active today.

The Claretians honor Saint Anthony Mary Claret, their founder and patron saint. He was a Spanish Roman Catholic archbishop and missionary who dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel and serving the marginalized.
Nobody gave him permission to be a saint. He became a saint when God granted him that honor upon his death.
