Water, salts, glucose and urea pass through the slits into the bowmans capsule, which leads to kidney tubules. Then, as the kidney tubules are surrounded by capillaries, the useful substances (all glucose, some salts, most water) are re-absorbed, and only urea and some salts carry on to be excreted.
