The President of Brazil is the leader of Brazil as the head of state and the head of government. The current president is Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva [b. October 27, 1945]. He was first elected in 2002 for the 2003 to 2006 term. At that time he received the most votes of any president in Brazil: 56.7 million. He was re-elected for a second term with 58.2 million votes. He will serve as President until January 1, 2011.
