I would take that you mean WKF champion. WKF tournaments are the highest sporting tournaments of Karate. But there are hundreds of Champions in each category. So, its difficult to name a single champion.

I don't think you can pin the blame on that to any one person. There are many styles that continue to stay away from the idea of competing in karate as a sport.
