The Cumberland Plateau starts to the east of Nashville and continues to the edge of the mountains near Knoxville/Chattanooga. It runs up into Kentucky where it becomes the Allegheny Plateau.
The average elevation is about 400 ft, it's deeply intersected by valleys and gorges of rivers such as the Cumberland and Caney Fork.
