I would not use plastic at all since it will not withstand all climatic influences over time. If it is for a temporal hobby project, using ABS is ok, but no plastic will be durable. No, it would not make sense to number a house for 'nothing.' The current standard in most communities is sequentially numbering starting from house number one, or basing the house number on the number of feet from the corner of the street or starting point to the front door of the house.
I would say glass. Glass is nonporous and easily cleaned and disinfected. Plastic is soft and the molecules making up the plastic bottle may leach into the water.
