PS2 keyboards should only plug in to the keyboard port on a computer, look for a port on the convectional panel similar to that of the connector.
It is important to note that on some older machines a second PS2 port with a similar pin layout may be present. this is for mice and will not function with a keyboard. ensure that you select the correct one as a keyboard PS2 can be forced in to a mouse PS2 port (dont worry to much if you do this, just switch to the other port)
USB connectors can be connected to any available USB port.
Not all computers will auto detect keyboards when they are plugged in, if this is the case restart the computer. Commonly any lights on the keyboard will activate at startup indicating the keyboard has been detected.
