Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830. This act called for moving all the Indians east of the Mississippi to lands west of the Mississippi. The removal took place from 1831 to 1847, but mostly in 1837 under Van Buren.
Andrew Jackson was President of the United States during the last few years of The Trail of Tears in which Native American Indians were rounded up and forced to march for over 800 miles. Most of them marched from Oklahoma to Florida. The Indian Removal Act actually went into effect in 1830. It took 8 years for all dissident Native American Indians to be moved to parts of Florida.

The Indian Removal Act of 1830 was signed into law by Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830. Basically, it allowed the President to reserve land West of the Mississippi for Indian reservations, so that white man could make room within current state borders. Now, some tribes went peacefully; however, not all liked the idea of being removed from their homes. It was this act that lead to the brute force removal of the Cherokee tribe in 1838 and 1839 known as the "Trail of Tears." The second Seminole War came into play in 1835. So, essentially, we saw many conflicts arising throughout the nation between white man and Indians of several tribes.

The process for removing the President begins with the House passing a bill of impeachment. That requires the Senate to hold a trial. After all the evidence is presented, the Senators vote of whether to convict. If 2/3 of those voting, vote to convict, the President is removed from office.

President Lamar was reacting to Comanche raids on Texas citizens. His solution was to wage war on all Indians regardless of their tribe. Thus in retrospect not conducted correctly, it doesn't indicate that he hated Indians.

Actually, the president can ask them to resign, but in case they refuse to do it, then the president can remove them if Congress decides to do so. They can be removed only for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.
