Polonium is seated in the block numbered 84. As an alpha particle is emiited then the parent element is shifted to the block numbered 2 less right from the present one. So it gets shifted to 82. This is the place for lead Pb

So Po, the parent gets changed to Pb.

Mass number 218 will be reduced by 4. So the daught element would be 82 Pb 214

So the most general rule is that as alpha particle which is nothing but the helium nucleus comes out of the parent then daughter has two less in its atomic number and 4 less in its mass number as helium nucleus is 2He4

Which product is formed by alpha emission from polonium 208?

The isotope lead-204 is obtained.

What type of radiation is emitted when polonium forms lead-208?

Lead-208 is formed by alpha decay (emission of alpha particles) from polonium-212.

What is the daughter product of uranium 238 by beta and gamma emission?

The decay product of uranium 238 by alpha disintegration (not beta or gamma) is thorium 234.

What is the nuclear equation for the decay of Am 250 by alpha emission?

My book does not list 250Am, nor the product 246Np. Beta decay would probably be preferred in this case over alpha.250Am --> 246Np + 4He

When curium-242 is bombarded with alpha particles two products are formed. One of these products is a neutron. What is the other product?

I suppose that the isotope formed is Am-245.

Would an atom of radioactive gold be more likely to decay by alpha emission or beta emission?

Gold never decays by alpha emission, it either decays by -beta, +beta, K capture, or gamma emission depending on isotope.Natural gold is isotopically pure gold-197, which is stable.

What does thorium-234 turns to after alpha and gamma emission?

Thorium-234 don't emit alpha particles.
