Balloon fish
They lie in wait for their prey, or hunt for it in holes. The prey is killed quickly with a venomous bite as opposed to constricting. If the bitten prey moves away before dying, the rattlesnake can follow it by its scent.
They are ambush killers. They lie down and wait then rush forward to grab their prey. To kill their prey they take it to the water to drown and dismember it. Sometimes they get fruit from trees too!
Many islands lie east of the Great Barrier Reef, as the reef is about 2300 km in length. For example, the islands that make up the countries of Vanuatu, Samoa, Fiji and New Caledonia lie east of the Great Barrier Reef.
Australia and coral sea
Most snakes are ambush feeders. They lie in wait quietly for a prey item to pass by. They then either quickly inject venom to kill the prey or, if they are constrictors, they snag the animal with their mouth and throw coils around it until it suffocates.
Oh wait, I tell a lie, i cannot. :-)
Cheetas don't have cammo. They have spots.
Rattlesnake lie in ambush under a bush, rock or log and wait for a prey item to wander into their trap. Once the animal is in range, the snake will strike out and inject venom. The prey wanders off and soon dies. The snake then follows the scent trail to find it and then swallows it.
Because they are big, powerful reptiles that can move fast when they need to. They are also 'ambush predators' in that they lie concealed in water or on land and simply wait for a prey animal to get too close !
Scupper, lie in wait
Rattlesnakes have heat-sensitive 'pits' on their mouths. They find their food by detecting the warmth given off by rodents (their favourite food). They either lie in wait to 'ambush' their prey, or actively 'hunt' for food.
