At the Easter Vigil Mass, candidates in RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) receive two of the three Sacraments of Initiation, because they have already been baptized in another Christian church, and the Roman Catholic Church believes in only one baptism. Candidates receive: * Confirmation * Eucharist If one is an RCIA Catechumen (A person going through RCIA that has never been baptized in another Christian church), then they will receive ALL THREE Sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil Mass: * Confirmation * Eucharist * Baptism

The order of the sacraments received by candidates is in the same order as someone would go through as a kid.

If the candidate has not been baptized, that is step one. Those who have been baptized in other Christian denominations may or may not need to be baptized again. The local priest can give further guidance. Next, the actual RCIA rite or Confirmation takes place. This welcomes the candidate into the Catholic Church. Once that is complete, then the candidate will be able to take the Eucharist or communion.

Candidates for admission into the Catholic Church are called what?

It depends on what their background is:A candidate is someone who has been previously baptized in another Christian faith. At the Easter Vigil, candidates will not be baptized since Baptism marks us with an indelible character. In other words, we may be baptized only once. Instead, candidates make a profession of faith, are confirmed, and receive the Eucharist.Catechumens are those individuals who have never been officially initiated into a church community prior to their entrance into the Catholic Church. At the Easter Vigil, catechumens celebrate all three Sacraments of Christian Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Another way we state this is to say that catechumens are seeking full communion with the Church.
